MR TOM WESTALL|
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mr Tom Westall.
Tom has been a devoted friend to Heyhouses for over 40 years. He was a Governor for 31 years and has remained a constant friend and supporter of our school. The Foundation stone of our new building was laid in his honour and in 2013 the Queen honoured him with a British Empire Medal.
Tom has encouraged, guided and supported Heyhouses children and staff for so many years. He has been an inspiration. A true gentleman and loyal friend, always cheerful and looking for the good in every situation. His values in life have truly influenced the school we know and love. His Heyhouses Spirit awards and Westall Trophy represent all that is best in our school and in life in general: service, commitment, loyalty, determination, humour, friendship and enthusiasm. In all these ways Tom epitomised the very best Christian qualities; his strong faith shone out in all his actions.
As Headteacher I am proud to have known Tom and even prouder to count him as a close friend. He will be sorely missed by all at Heyhouses. The flag will fly at half-mast as we remember him.
'Pupil's behaviour is outstanding. Pupils work hard in lessons and develop excellent attitudes to learning.'
'The school's exciting curriculum provides memorable learning experiences for all pupils.'
Ofsted Inspection 2019
We have an excellent reputation in the community and we are continually over subscribed. Our parents say...‘Heyhouses offers a superb education at primary level and it is the unrivalled dedication of the headteacher and her team of staff that makes the school environment a pleasure for the pupils to be in. Excellent all round.’
Please read the Headteacher's letter about our recent inspection.
This is our 2019 Ofsted Inspection report.
The children have worked hard this term and they have been very proud to be able to celebrate all their good work, showing parents their books oduring the recent parent interviews.
Last year we received a Section 48 Inspection from the Diocese of Blackburn. A special 'Thank you' to all the children in school who were wonderful and happily discussed what it is like to be a 'Heyhouses child.' Thank you also to all the parents who came into school to meet with the Inspectors. And finally, thank you to all staff who, as ever, worked tremendously hard and demonstrated their expertise in bringing out the best in the children in our care.
We are very proud to have been graded 'Outstanding' once more.
