Dear Parent,

The Charter Award system has now been introduced and the children are eagerly working towards their certificates. The junior children are working towards a Merit or Distinction in their awards.

In order to achieve a Merit or Distinction the children need to undertake tasks outside of school, putting into practice the ideals of the Charter system:

  • Showing commitment, effort and enthusiasm as they seek to develop personally and to serve others.

Ideally, we would like this to be a ‘new’ task and not simply a continuation of an existing task. A list and explanation of the type of task required to achieve the award is attached. This task obviously requires evidence that it has been performed correctly and below is a form for either parents or the leader of an organisation to sign.

We hope your child enjoys working to achieve their Merit and will be encouraged to continue to work for a Distinction. To achieve a Distinction two tasks must be performed outside of school.

If you need further assistance, please ask your child’s class teacher or myself.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely,

Elizabeth Hodgson
