This term, year 3 are taking part in drama lessons. We are practising key skills and will learn a play by the end of the term.
Today in science we completed an investigation to find out which surface had the least friction. We had 4 surfaces to test and we Measured the distance travelled by a car down a ramp.

Today, in English some children completed a comprehension using the poem T’was the night before Christmas. The children then practised the poem in a small group and performed it to the class. They even thought of actions too! Well done.
In one of our English lessons, we practised the skill of using a dictionary. First we ordered words in alphabetical order. We then used dictionaries to look up the meaning of different words and recorded their definitions in our books.

Well done to The Wild Cats who played the final on Sunday against Mysercough. The girls played very well and came second! And amazing achievement girls, well done.

Today we had a very special visitor in Year 3. We were lucky to have Hugh Templeton come in to do a water colour workshop inspired by Roman Art. We were all guided on how to create our master pieces and I have to say they are very impressive. See below for the photos.
Today we had a lovely treat. Mrs Hodgson had been telling us about stir up Sunday in our assembly and this afternoon we helped her make a Christmas cake. We helped weigh out the ingredients and then everyone had a stir and made a wish.
Today in English we have started our new Legends topic. We read the story of St George and the Dragon and then used an extract from the story to highlight powerful verbs, adverbs and adjectives. We worked really well in pairs.
We’ve had a very exciting time this week when we got some new classmates! In WAH we made our very own worm farm. Felicity is our Eco-warrior and is doing a great job of looking after them. She’s pointing out a worm above.
